“ Boudin in San Francisco is famous for its sourdough bread, which pairs perfectly with their clam chowder served in a bread bowl. It's an iconic experience, blending rich, creamy soup with freshly baked bread. If you enjoyed the clam chowder, you might also like their other soups or sandwiches served with sourdough. The bakery's location at Fisherman's Wharf offers a great view and the chance to watch sourdough being made! ”
“ 4 stars because I ordered 2 clam chowder bread bowls, but they forgot one of the bread bowls... Good chowder though. They also perfected sourdough bread. The clam chowder was good - more viscous than I'm use to, but I'm from SoCal, so I'm not sure if that's how they make it out here or not. 7.8/10 for me! This Boudin is just a store front, so no seating available and all orders were to-go. The inside of the store was very small, but cozy. Felt warm and homely, nice vibe. There were maybe 4 people ahead of me in line, and my food probably came in about 20ish minutes. Not the fastest but I'd wait for it again. ”
“ 4 stars because the bread is the best...don't think I'll order sandwiches here though anymore....had the turkey and avocado on sourdough...aside from the bread being good the sandwich had no flavor..would have been better with oil and vinegar, etc. If they had it I wasn't offered it...other than that great service and excellent pastries..it can get tight in there so you may have to wait outside. Parking is another story ...good luck if you go later in the day or around lunch..try calling ahead ”
“ It is classic San Francisco sourdough - that's almost all that needs to be said! Dear Hubby and I were passing through The City on Monday and made the pilgrimage to Boudin's in the Avenues. He was able to grab a parking place out front while I dashed into their retail take-away space. A full complement of various types of sourdough filled the baker's racks. They were all nicely labeled to make it easy to see what varieties were ready for purchase. I was interested in the olive bread, but went with classic sourdough. Purchased two loaves - one I had sliced as we were taking it to our grandson as a gift. The other I asked to be placed in a plastic sleeve to preserve the freshness to bring home to SoCal. It arrived in great shape! This retail bakery space is small but mighty. Not fancy, but not just utilitarian, either. It has a modest vibe, and the stars of the show are the bread loaves. A very friendly gentleman was handling the orders and elevated my visit with our brief conversation. It's not just a taste from my childhood, it's also a connection to all the wonderful flavor journeys that sourdough evokes. Long live Boudin! I wish them endless years of continued success. It's really helpful to have locations in multiple places to be able to enjoy the goodness of their baked breads and pastries. ”
“ This is a takeout only place. There is no place to sit, so we ordered a bread bowl with clam chowder to the nearby park. The soup was super hot, so it was difficult to pour it in a bread bowl. We still enjoyed it though. ”
“ Love coming here. This place has the best assortment of breads of all the locations and therefore my favorite location. From what I understand, the breads are made here and then distributed to the other locations. Prices are cheaper here as well. Always incredibly fresh and tasty. Staff for the most part are usually helpful and friendly. Small location so, only a few people allowed at a time. Plenty of metered street parking available. ”
“ Having Dinner at a friend's house for Thanksgiving and want to bring something uniquely SF, pick up a turkey shaped sourdough. Served 20 of us and my homesick San Francisco family appreciated a taste of San Francisco. ”
